A subsequent meeting was held on 16th July 1984 where 14 people present indicated that they were prepared to Join the new club

Trevor Gowling was declared Charter President with Geoff Goodman Secretary and John Croser Treasurer.

Meetings Were held on the First and Third Mondays each month leading up to the Charter meeting.

The Clubs Charter Presentation Dinner Meeting was held at Wirrina Resort on Monday 15th February 1985 with 27 Charter Members and their Partners in attendance.

The Club Charter was presented by Lion Keith Melville to Charter President Trevor Gowling.
From Humble beginnings, the Lions Club of Yankalilla & District has not only maintained, but actually increased its membership from 27 to currently 46 enabling the continuance of the club’s proud tradition of service to the community and to Lions International projects – “We Serve”.

The Club opened the membership to Women in 1999 with Lion Val Moore transferring from Sawtell NSW to become our first female member joining in 2001.

Our first Female President, Lion Melinda Fogden was inducted in July 2009 and since then we have gone on to currently have 14 Ladies as Lions in the club.
